Scout About

The resort has many activities for kids.  One thing Owyn and Zoee really enjoyed was "Scout About".  They give you a map of the resort, and point out 13 different locations you need to find.  When you find each spot, you read the sign for information about that location, and then get a colored wrist band to show you have been there.

You hunt around for these white boxes and signs.

The boxes are filled with colored wrist bands.

The sign tells you facts about something.  This one had orange
wristbands and information about Coqui Frogs.

After you find all 13 colored bands, you trade them in for a black "El Conquistador" wrist band.  You also get to fill out a notecard with your name, hometown, and your favorite discovery on the scavenger hunt.  Then you hang it on the bulletin board in the lobby.  Owyn's favorite discovery was the iguanas all over Palamino Island.  Zoee's favorite discovery was the caterpillar (see below), and then the boat ride to Palamino Island.

When we were hunting for the final box, Jack discovered this guy crawling across the grass.  We have to look it up and see exactly what it is.

Owyn was so excited about this scavenger hunt and finding all of the wristbands.  Even though they had two days to get it done, they found all of them on Sunday!
