Cooperstown - A Day For Jack

Cooperstown, New York.  Home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  A place every little leaguer hopes to visit someday.  It took my "little leaguer" 47 years to get here, but Jack finally made it to Cooperstown today.

Cooperstown is a smaller town, kind of off the beaten path in New York State.  It's a place Jack never had a burning desire to travel specifically to see.  However, when we were driving East on I-90 last weekend and saw a sign pointing to Cooperstown, he realized that this may be his only chance to see it.  Now that he's been, Jack definitely would go back again to explore the area more. Owyn was so patient and walked through the museum with his Dad, but Jack really could have spent more time there reading about the history and the greats of baseball.  Hopefully, when the kids are older, we'll make the drive again and see more of the museum and town.

The only picture of Zoee inside the museum.
She lasted about 10 minutes before she had to leave.

Chicago Cubs' Ron Santo is being inducted into the Hall of Fame next Saturday.  Sadly, he passed away before his name was announced so he never got to experience the honor.  These Cubs fans, however, were happy to see him represented in Cooperstown.

Owyn kept sticking out his tongue being silly

Owyn was looking forward to pictures of Babe Ruth.

The Babe!

They had a display for the "Negro League".  I think
a book on the subject will be in our house soon so they
can learn more about this part of baseball history.

Owyn loves the concessions, even the pretend ones!

Babe Ruth is just over Jack's right shoulder.

Ron Santo's banner hanging out front

Once she left the museum, Zoee was on a search for food.  She found the biggest slice of pepperoni pizza Cooperstown had to offer.  And she almost ate the whole thing!  It was a very good slice of pizza that sent her into a much needed nap.

Cooperstown did not disappoint as a "must see" for this traveling family. And, added bonus, we checked another item off our Summer List - "Travel to a place we've never been". Check!
