Beach Bums - Summer Fun #29 and #59

We checked two things off our Summer List this weekend:  visited Chicago and played in Lake Michigan. This was the first time Owyn and Zoee had been to Oak Street Beach on Lake Michigan, and they LOVED it. We were there for over two hours and they could have easily stayed longer.

Owyn's favorite part was jumping in and over every wave he could.

Zoee dipped her toes in the water a bit, but she spent the most time digging in the sand.  She was digging, filling, and dumping all over the beach and at the water's edge.

I enjoyed watching them while I also took in the beautiful Chicago scenery.

Zoee tried talking Owyn into digging in the sand with her, and he finally agreed to it.  For about five minutes.

They were both happy to discover more to Chicago than just their favorite museums, and they are begging to return to the beach later this summer. 

Other things we did on our quick visit to Chicago...

We rode the L, of course.

We ate at one of Owyn's favorite lunch spots, Burrito Beach.

We discovered a new playground with a cool old fire station beside it, just off Michigan Avenue.

It was a great weekend, a wonderful start to our summer.  And the Summer List.
