Owyn joined the Regina Wrestling Club in November and has been going to practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings. This has been his first taste of wrestling, and he enjoyed learning the basic moves.
Today we took Owyn to a tournament at Marion High School that was for beginning wrestlers. He weighed in at 45 pounds, wrestled three matches, and really did a great job showing what he has learned in just a few short weeks of practices. This particular tournament was created for kids new to the sport, and so they did not keep score in the matches or declare any "winners". Instead, both wrestlers had their arms raised at the end of each match, and all the kids received a medal at the end.
This was a good first experience for all of us, especially Owyn. We are so proud of him!
