Chicago Trains and Museums

We took a quick trip into Chicago Dec. 26th - 28th.  Owyn's goal for this trip was to "summit" the pink line and he did.

(Note - "to summit" means to take a train all the way to the end of its line).

Owyn and his Dad have now been on every Chicago L line, have seen every station, and have gotten off at the end of every line.

Owyn's next goal:  the commuter trains!

Two thumbs up for the Pink Line!

We also went to two of our favorite museums:  The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry

Exploring Locks and Dams at the Nature Museum

Learning about healthy foods

Zoee made an instrument with recycled products in the craft room.

Science and Industry...Zoee was asleep at this museum so she and I sat in the lobby while Jack and Owyn played in the museum.  Owyn realy wants to go back to Chicago for his birthday and he said Zoee has to be awake and play with him in the ball room on that trip.

This was a model of Chicago with various trains running on it.

Driving the steam engine

In between, we also visited the book store to buy some books and Owyn's 2011 calendar - historical pictures of the Chicago L - as well as ate lots of yummy food like Garrett's Popcorn, rode other train lines, went swimming in the hotel pool, visited the American Girl and Disney stores, and ate Baskin-Robbins ice cream despite the 20 degree temperatures!

New favorite flavor, Rainbow Sherbet

"Pink ice cream!"

Two full days with lots of fun for all.  We love Chicago!!
