Scientific Birthday Treats

Owyn got to take birthday cupcakes to school today for his class.  Because he is a big fan of science, I wanted to find a decoration or cupcake topper with a science theme.  Not surprisingly, local shops and the internet are not filled with choices for child birthday parties that have a science theme.

Luckily, this Mommy has creative ideas.  More importantly, this Mommy has a very talented friend who designs cakes and edible decorations!

I called my friend, Amy from Sprinkles & Company, and told her my ideas:  test tubes, beakers, molecules.  She drew up some sketches, and then created some incredible fondant and marzipan cupcake toppers:  test tubes and beakers with "stuff" bubbling over the top, molecules, amoebas, DNA strands, #6, and the cutest little "mad scientist" for my birthday boy.

He was thrilled when he saw them!

He also loves the scientist and wants to keep him forever!
