Owyn's Birthday - Part 3

Sunday was Owyn's final birthday celebration with family members and a couple of family friends.  We all had lunch, ate more of the Chicago L cake, and watched Owyn open his presents.

Lego Toy Story Dump Truck with Lotso from Gwyneth.

Spaceship Legos from Sarah, Alex, & McKenzie.

Rain boots from Grandma Spurgeon, one size bigger than the exact ones he got last year from Grandma.
He loves the green "snake" boots and didn't want anything different .

Alex helped to read the cards before Owyn opened the packages.

Toy Story 3 Wii game from Uncle Randy and Ethan

Chicago-Opoly from Grandma Noble

Cranky the Crane Legos from Hubbards

There were a couple of funny quotes of the day:

1.  When Owyn opened the spaceship Legos from Sarah, he said "Uh-Oh, Mom, I think we need to put these in the attic."  That was referencing a November conversation we had when Owyn entered his "Lego wishlist" in a contest to win $1,000 worth of Legos.  We added items to the list that were for older kids, and we said we would put them in the attic until he was old enough for them.  Some of the items on the list were Star Wars, and when Owyn opened the spaceship he thought it was a Star Wars item for when he is older.

2.  When Owyn opened the Wii game from Uncle Randy, he was so excited and screamed, and then he ran over to Randy and asked, "Did you get this at Target?" to which Randy replied, "Yes".  Then Owyn ran to his Dad and said, "Oh yes, then we get to keep it forever!"  We have borrowed some Wii games from the Iowa City Public Library recently, and we get to keep them for one week.  We have explained to Owyn that it's a good way to try out different games and then we can buy them from somewhere like Target to keep forever.

3.  When Owyn opened Chicago-Opoly from Grandma Noble, he said, "Oh yes, we've been really needing this!"  He couldn't wait to play it.

4.  Owyn had been waiting for two days to eat the Loop from his cake, and he finally got the entire loop on his plate during this party.  It was much of a surprise that he couldn't eat the whole thing, but he just wasn't walking away from it.  I asked him if he wanted me to save his piece to finish later, and he said, "Yes, and can you just keep it away from Todd?"  That was because Todd Hubbard was teasing that he wanted to eat the Loop, and then he was hovering behind Owyn as he ate so Owyn thought Todd was just waiting to take tthe rest of the piece when Owyn walked away from it.
