We woke up to a very rainy morning, but the rain didn't stop us from participating in the annual "Run For The Schools" in downtown Iowa City. Owyn has run the 1/2 mile for a few years now (see
2011 and
2010), but this year was extra special because Zoee ran her first race! Since she is now a student at Regina, she loved the idea that her running would help her school get money for field trips and other fun stuff. I thought she would quit when she saw the rain, but she was so excited to run in the rain and splash in the puddles.

Owyn's 1 mile was cancelled due to the rain so
he ran the 1/2 mile too. |

| Way to go, Zoee!! |
Owyn and Jack finished way ahead of us, but they were waiting for Zoee at the finish. I was surprised that she actually ran the whole way, with the exception of stopping to take off her mittens and hood. She had a smile on her face the whole time and kept asking me "Mom, am I running fast?" She did great...we are so proud of her!
After the race, we headed back to the start where Jack was the official starter for the longer races. The race director introduced him and shared that he had been in charge of Race Operations for several years, but that he turned over the job this year. A part of him missed it and all the preparation for race day, but I think another part of him was happy to walk away after the race started and spend the day doing other things with his family. See
this link for how we spent the rest of our rainy day.

The rain was a downer on race day, but the Nobles had fun and will be back next year to do it again!
