IronKids Dubuque

After competing in the IronKids Triathlon last weekend in Cedar Rapids, Owyn was excited to try the event again.  He competed in the IronKids Dubuque event today, and again had a great time!

When Owyn competed in Cedar Rapids last weekend, he was thrilled with every part of the race.  He was so excited when his name was announed in 4th place, and he was proud to walk up in front of everyone to be recognized.  However, after the award ceremony in Cedar Rapids, Owyn realized that 1st - 3rd place finishers get to STAND on podium steps and receive a trophy.  When we left the Cedar Rapids event, Owyn asked, "What do I have to do to get a trophy?"  He really wanted to stand on these steps...

...and he REALLY wanted to win a trophy.  Today, he got to do both of those things!  There were three 6-year old boys, and Owyn finished 2nd in 16:48.  The bike and run in Dubuque were longer than the Cedar Rapids distances, but Owyn did very well in each event.

We saw a little improvement in each area today, and look forward to seeing how he improves further with his third IronKids event next week in Davenport.
